This bulletin is being revised to update the model years and bulletin information.Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 04-06-01-019A (Section 06 – Engine/PropulsionSystem).

The purpose of this bulletin is to review the GM Performance Parts warranty on enginesand partial engines. Following are a list of commonly asked questions regarding thewarranty terms, conditions, and limits of this warranty:

What is the Warranty on GM Performance Parts Engines-

Important:Refer to the warranty statement located in Article 1.1.3 of the General Motors ServicePolicies and Procedures Manual for complete information.

General Motors Performance Parts warrants to the original retail purchaser for thetime and/or mileage indicated below, that it will repair or replace, at its option,using new or remanufactured parts, any GM Performance Parts engine or partial engine,including partial engines in kits, that fail due to a defect in material or workmanship.

Dealer installed and over-the-counter engine assembly purchases – 24 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from date of dealer installationor date of purchase by the original retailer purchaser (parts and labor).

Subsequent replacements:

Dealer Installed engine assemblies: Subsequent engine replacements under this warranty will receive the balance of the24 month/50,000 mile engine assembly warranty or a new 12 month or 12,000 mile warrantyfrom new date of installation, whichever is greater.Dealer Installed components: Subsequent part replacements under this warranty will receive the balance of the24 month/50,000 mile engine assembly warranty or a new 12 month or 12,000 miles warrantyfrom new date of installation, whichever is greater.Over-the-counter purchases: Subsequent part replacements under this warranty will receive a new 12 month or 12,000mile warranty from new date of installation.

Dealer Installed and over-the-counter component purchases – 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from date of dealer installationor date of purchase by the original retail purchaser (parts and labor).

When Does the Warranty Begin-Dealer Installed – The warranty begins on the date of installation by an authorized GM Dealer.Sold over-the-counter – The warranty begins on the date of purchase by the original retail purchaser.What is Excluded from Warranty Coverage-Damage due to improper installation, negligence, alteration, or accident.Damage due to improper use or an application that is not approved by General Motors;including use related to racing or competition, marine or motorcycle applications,or for other non-vehicle usage.Damage caused by a turbocharger, supercharger, nitrous oxide, or similar product,which is not an approved GM Performance Part or Accessory.GM Performance Parts engines where the vehicle odometer has been disconnected or themileage reading has been altered.Damage caused by lack of proper maintenance as described in the vehicle’s originalMaintenance Schedule/Owner Manual, failure to follow Maintenance Schedule intervals,or failure to use or maintain proper type and levels of fluids, fuel, oil and lubricantsrecommended in the Maintenance Schedule/Owner Manual.
