Accelerator Pedal Bracket Replacement Pedal Position
Note:Ensure the brake pedal assembly is adjusted to the lowestposition farthest from the drivers seat prior to removal of theaccelerator assembly. Failure to do so could result in incorrectstep-over height between the brake and accelerator pedals andimproper function of the adjustable pedal system.Remove the accelerator pedal position sensor assembly. RefertoAccelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement.
Remove the accelerator pedal bracket nuts.
Remove the adjustable pedal drive cable from the acceleratorpedal actuator using the following procedure:Twist the cable housing counterclockwise.Compress the secondary locking tabs located below the twistand lock tabs with a pointed tool and remove the cable from thepedal actuator.
Remove the accelerator actuator lower pivot pin pushnut-(1) and washer-(2).Remove the accelerator actuator lower pivotpin-(3).
Remove the accelerator actuator mountingscrews-(1).Remove the accelerator actuator-(2).Installation Procedure
Note:Accurate measurement and adjustment during following steps iscritical to ensure the proper step-over distance between the brakeand accelerator pedals.
Install the accelerator actuator-(2) to theaccelerator pedal bracket.
Caution:Refer toFastener Caution.Install the accelerator actuator screws-(1) andtighten to2.5-Y(22-lb-in).
Install the accelerator actuator lower pivotpin-(3).Install the accelerator actuator lower pivot pinwasher-(2) and push nut-(1).
In order to allow proper actuation of the adjustable bracket, the push nut must allow some free play of the pivot pin. Thedistance between the bracket side wall and the push nut should be1.7-mm (0.07-in).
Install the drive cable-(1) into the acceleratoractuator-(2) until secured by the secondary lockingtabs.
Install and twist the cable housing to secure to theaccelerator pedal assembly.
Install the accelerator pedal bracket mounting nuts andtighten to9-Y(80-lb-in).Adjust the accelerator pedal mounting bracket using thefollowing procedure:Remove the screws from the cable housing at the top of theadjustable pedal motor.Twist the cable housing to unlock the cable from themotor.Remove the cable from the adjustable pedal motor.Attach a drill motor or equivalent to the adjustable pedalcable.Spin the cable until there is a distance of6.14-mm (0.24-in) between the arrows on theinboard side of the adjustable pedal bracket.Install the accelerator pedal position sensor assembly. RefertoAccelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement.Calibrate the adjustable pedal system. Refer toAdjustable Pedal System Calibration.Verify operation of the adjustable pedals.
