Air Conditioning Compressor Oil Balancing (Non-HP2) Compressor
Important:Drain and measure as much of the refrigerant oil as possiblefrom the removed compressor. Before draining oil, position the compressor verdically(clutch facing upwards) and let it sit for 1 minute.Position the compressor horizontally, with the ports facingdownward, rotate the clutch and shake the compressor in order toremove as much oil from the compressor as possible.Drain the oil from both the suction and discharge ports ofthe removed compressor into a clean, graduated container. Rotatethe compressor shaft to assist in draining the compressor.
Measure and record the amount of oil drained from the removedcompressor. This measurement will be used during installation ofthe replacement compressor. Inspect oil drained from removedcompressor. Refer toAir Conditioning Compressor Oil DiagnosisProperly discard the used refrigerant oil.Balancing Procedure
Important:The refrigerant oil in the A/C system must be balanced duringcompressor replacement.
Before installing the compressor, the refrigerant oil willhave to be fully drained.Add back the same quantity of polyalkylene glycol (PAG) oilas drained from the removed compressor.
Refer to the amount of refrigerant oil recorded during thecompressor removal.
