Note:Second design lower evaporator case part number 20958709.

Select the first or second design lower evaporator case template by the part number, click on the magnifying glass to open the template.Above the template image, click on the printer icon next to the 1:1 in order to printin the correct scale.

Note:No other printing method is acceptable as scale changes print size.

Make a copy of the template using a copy machine, and re-size the template verticaland horizontal axis to a scale 50-mm.Cut the template out along the printed ribs.

Air Conditioning Refrigerant Temperature Sensor Replacement

Secure the template to the bottom of the air conditioning and heater module assembly-(1)with tape. The template should fit snugly between the molded ribs.

Caution:Extreme care must be taken when drilling into the air conditioning and heater casemodule. Misalignment of the hole can cause damage to the air conditioning evaporatoror temperature door requiring replacement of these components.

Slowly drill a hole through the air conditioning and heater module assembly usinga 1–1/4 inch (32-mm) hole saw following the template outline.Inspect the air conditioning refrigerant temperature sensor through the newly drilledhole. The air conditioning refrigerant temperature sensor should be secure to thecenter of the evaporator core.

Air Conditioning Refrigerant Temperature Sensor Replacement

If the air conditioning refrigerant temperature sensor-(1) is not secured to the evaporatorcore-(2), use a pair of long needle nose pliers to grip the air conditioning refrigeranttemperature sensor at the plastic base, and insert air conditioning refrigerant temperaturesensor into the evaporator core.Perform the air conditioning refrigerant temperature sensor calibration check usingthe scan tool.If it is determine that the air conditioning refrigerant temperature sensor is defectiveand needs to be replaced, use a pair of long needle nose pliers to grip the air conditioningrefrigerant temperature sensor at the plastic base. Pull the air conditioning refrigeranttemperature sensor out away from the evaporator core and out of the newly drilledhole.Secure 1 wire, 30 inches (762-mm) in length to the air conditioning refrigerant temperaturesensor side of the sensor.Secure 1 wire, 30 inches (762-mm) in length to the air conditioning refrigerant temperaturesensor connector side of the sensor.
