Tilt Top Hard Tonneau Cover Package Installation Moldings - part 3
Verify that the installation matches what is shown.The recommended final torque for the well nut is 2.26-N.M (20-lb-in).
Note:Do not over torque as damage may occur to the well nut.Step 5 - Install Tonneau (Requires two people)
Lower truck tailgate to the horizontal position.With the assistance of another person (one person on each side of the truck), liftthe tonneau-(2) high enough to clear the top of the truck box-(1) and position thetonneau on the truck box as shown.
Slide the tonneau-(2) towards the rear of the vehicle until the hinges clear the lockingtabs on the front frame-(1), making sure that the front seal stays on top of the frontframe.
Slide tonneau-(1) forward until both hinges engage the locking tabs-(2) on the frame.
Note:Each of the hinges will produce a “click” sound when they properly engage the tabson the front frame.Ensure that the tonneau is securely fastened to the front frame.
Verify that the front seal is properly installed as shown.Step 6 - Strut Installation (Requires two people)
With the assistance of one person holding the tonneau in the open position at therear of the truck, attach both of the struts-(1) to the front frame. The strut endswill push onto the ball studs-(2).
Note:It may be necessary for the person holding the tonneau to raise or lower the tonneauto achieve proper alignment between the ball stud and the end fitting of the strutduring the installation.
Verify that the quick release tabs on the strut ends match what is shown.Step 7 - Verify Latch/Lock Operation
Keep the tailgate lowered until the latch/lock system function is verified.Do not slam the tonneau closed at this time as this may result in damage to the latchsystem components.Carefully close the tonneau cover and inspect for interference between latches onthe tonneau and the striker loops attached to the truck box.If the latches-(2) properly engage the strikers-(1) , verify the latch release bytwisting the lock on the fop of the tonneau cover.If the operation is satisfactory, open the tonneau, raise the tailgate, and closethe tonneau cover.Installation is complete.If the tonneau does not latch and release properly, proceed to step 8.Step 8 - Latch/Lock Adjustments
STRIKER ADJUSTMENT – The striker loop-(1) can be adjusted up or down by looseningthe two ?-20” nuts-(3). Close the cover with the tailgate down and locate strikerloop in the middle of the latch-(2). With cover closed, tighten nuts with loop inproper position. Close tailgate and check for operation. Avoid difficult closing andcover movement after closed. Re-adjust as necessary. Be sure to re-torque the nutsafter any adjustments to 2.26-N.M (20-lb-in).LATCH ADJUSTMENT – The latches-(2) can be adjusted left or right by loosening thetwo ?-20” nuts-(3). Be sure to re-torque the nuts after any adjustments to 2.26-N.M(20-lb-in).CABLE ADJUSTMENT – The cables can be adjusted by loosening the set screw on the latch-(2)near the hole that the cable passes through, then tightening when the selected tensionis chosen.
